tl;dr
I'm motivated, I'm not a salesman, I want to learn and get better, offer me a job, please.
It's been more than a year since I've started looking for a job, my first job.
I have an engineering degree from France and a master degree from the USA, both in computer science, and spent 2 years before that learning a lot of math and physics, but it seems they are all worth nothing, yet required everywhere. Not that they should be a direct passthrough to a job, obviously, but some interviewers don't even bother reading my résumé to understand my background, and that's when I'm lucky to get the interview.
The global context with LLMs, economic difficulties, and political situation in France, or even worldwide, don't help, for sure, but most job offers, even for junior position, require experience, sometimes not considering internships, projects nor research. Therefore, I have a hard time hilighting my MS thesis, my only internship and my personal projects. To be honest, I didn't simplify my search at the beginning, focusing on specific foreign countries and technologies, but that's not the case for a while now.
In addition, I know that I'm not the greatest speaker of all time, otherwise I would probably have chosen a career in sales, not engineering, but HR want someone putting an act, something I'm not and likely never will. I'm honestly not that good at programming either, because I'm a JUNIOR, I WANT to get better, I WANT to learn, I'm not doing an interview to sell hot air, I DO WANT to work whether I manage to show it or not. I don't need to be the best to know I'll do my best.
All I ask is a bit of trust, a company giving me a chance, with a fair salary, and ideally working on an interesting project. Bonus points if you are not forcing "AI" down developers' throats (especially juniors), are European, and your stack contains C, C++, C# or Rust.
